Baker Clubb / Strategic Introductions
Who is the one person your team cannot reach?
You probably already know which companies could materially change your business—and the executives inside them whom you most need to meet. Tell Baker Clubb who they are. If we believe there is a compelling reason for the conversation to happen, we will consider taking responsibility for making it happen.
Outcome-oriented engagements. We assume meaningful performance risk.
You don’t need another list.
Baker Clubb is designed for situations where the account is already known. The individual may already be known. The value of the relationship may already be obvious. The problem is access.
Cold email has not worked. LinkedIn has not worked. Investor introductions are inconsistent. The executive’s inbox is overwhelmed. Their assistant is doing exactly what a good assistant should do. Ordinary outbound has reached its limit. That is where Baker Clubb begins.
01 — Tell us who matters.
Nominate a person or organization you believe could materially affect your business. Tell us why the relationship matters, what you would like to discuss, what makes the opportunity relevant, and what a successful meeting is worth.
02 — We determine whether the meeting should happen.
Baker Clubb does not accept every pursuit. We independently evaluate whether the person is appropriate, your proposition is credible, there is a real reason for the other party to care, the economics justify the pursuit, and the introduction can be made professionally. Sometimes our answer will be no. Selectivity is part of the product.
03 — We build the case.
Before asking someone for their time, we need to understand why they should give it. We research the person, company, market, strategic priorities, current initiatives, relationships, existing vendors, competitive pressures, and the intersection between their world and yours. The objective is relevance: why should these two parties genuinely want to speak?
04 — We design the pursuit.
There is no default Baker Clubb sequence. The right approach may be a direct message, a trusted introduction, communication through an executive assistant, original research, a strategic briefing, a carefully produced physical piece, a letter, an event, a relationship path, or an approach created specifically for the circumstances. The method should be worthy of the value of the meeting.
05 — We make the introduction.
Our objective is not merely to obtain a calendar acceptance. A successful Baker Clubb introduction means both parties understand why they are meeting and there is a legitimate basis for the conversation. For important introductions, we may also help prepare the client for the meeting.
Some meetings are worth pursuing differently.
Traditional sales organizations are built around repeatability. That makes sense when thousands of prospects could become customers. It makes less sense when a company has twenty accounts capable of creating millions of dollars in enterprise value. If a successful commercial relationship could be worth millions, spending significant time and money to create the right first conversation can be entirely rational.
Aligned with the outcome.
Engagements are generally structured around a pre-agreed success fee for a clearly defined introduction. Success criteria are established before a pursuit begins. The agreed person knowingly accepts the meeting, understands whom they are meeting and why, the client attends prepared, and the meeting satisfies the agreed qualification criteria.
Baker Clubb does not guarantee that the person will buy from you. We cannot control your product, pricing, sales process, procurement environment, or ability to close. Our responsibility is the introduction.
The economics have to matter.
Baker Clubb is best suited to companies where a single customer, partnership, relationship, or transaction can be extraordinarily valuable. Situations may involve enterprise technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data and AI, industrial technology, logistics, financial technology, professional services, specialized consulting, manufacturing, strategic suppliers, commercial real estate, investment and financial services, or other high-value B2B relationships. The defining characteristic is the value of the meeting.
Scarce attention.
We are particularly suited to people whose attention is difficult to earn because many others want it: CEOs, founders, business owners, CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, COOs, business-unit leaders, board members, strategic partnership leaders, senior procurement leaders, and other high-authority decision-makers. We are trying to create a small number of unusually valuable conversations.
Who do you need to meet?
Give us the name. Tell us why the conversation matters. We will determine whether Baker Clubb should pursue it.
